An Interview with Kimberley Payne
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a wife and a mother of two teenagers, two cats, and lots of fish. I love to walk and hike in the great outdoors, and consider myself an amateur photographer who loves to take tons of pictures of nature.
Why did you write Trees of the Book?
I find the stories in the Bible fascinating and wanted to explore some of them from a different perspective.
What makes it different from other children’s books?
TREES OF THE BOOK is an educational and fun look at scripture through the viewpoint of different trees.
For whom was the book written?
TREES OF THE BOOK was written for children ages 7 to 9. It can be used as a supplemental book to the Growth and Changes in Plants Curriculum for Canadian teachers in grades two and three.
Do you have a “life verse” that you have claimed? If so what is it and why is that verse so meaningful to you?
My life verse is:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God (Philippians 4:6).
I’ve come to realize that worry is useless. God hears and answers prayer. I rely on this every single day.
Who (or what) is your greatest encourager when you write and why?
My readers. When they email me or leave a comment on my blog I feel encouraged that someone is reading my works and gaining something from it.
What qualified you to write this book?
I am an award-winning self-published writer and a member of The Word Guild and Inscribe Christian Writer’s Fellowship. I have volunteered as a teacher with many children’s programs at my church, as a teacher’s aid for student’s reading, and within the library at my children’s school. Currently, I am an elementary school secretary for the Separate School Board
What do you like to do to get away from it all?
I love to hike in the woods and take pictures of plants, animals and trees.
Anything else you’d like to tell us about yourself or the book?
A young artist, Esther Haug, provided all the illustrations
